Cleveland, Ohio, February 15, 2013: The Blazing River Freedom Band is resuming rehearsals and performances after a year on hiatus. This Greater Cleveland LGBT community concert and marching band has been in existence since 2003 and performed a number of concerts, including in participating in pride events throughout the country and the Inauguration Parade for President Obama.
The band is to resume rehearsals on January 9th at Pilgrim United Church of Christ, 2592 W. 14th St., Cleveland, Ohio and will throw an open house rehearsal/party on January 16th at the same location for members, interested parties and their friends alike. Rehearsals will continue each Wednesday evening at 7pm at the church, cumulating in their reunion concert, “How the BRFB Got their Groove Back” on Sunday, April 16th at 3pm. This concert will feature drag performer/emcee Athena Ghost and coincides with the Lesbian Gay Band Association’s mid-year meetings of their Board of Directors in Cleveland, and additional social and musical events are being planned to commemorate the occasion.
