41st Anniversary: STONEWALL Veterans Assn. of NYC '69 Stonewall Rebellion

The renowned STONEWALL Veterans' Association (S.V.A.) is comprised of the legendary Stonewall veterans of the historic 1969 Stonewall Rebellion for Gay civil rights at the landmark Stonewall Club in NYC.  The seminal event established the modern Gay community and launched the worldwide Gay rights movement now benefiting millions of people -- Gay and non-Gay -- in civil rights, employment, housing, visitation, healthcare, legal and more!

Among the STONEWALL Veterans' Association's many regular activities:Stonewall Veterans Parade (Photo Credit George St. Avery)
* provides "Stonewall" speakers to high schools, colleges, churches,
clubs, companies, civic groups, symposiums and to other USA cities
* protects and maintains the Stonewall archives and photo collections
* organizes discussion panels, educational seminars and public forums
* educates the world with nearly 10 million website visits annually
* accommodates veterans with physical disabilities or mental issues
* originators of the "Gay Marriage" movement as of the '69 rebellion
* owns, garages and insures the famous 1969 "Stonewall Convertible"
* collaborating on media projects, e.g., BBC's movie "Stonewall"
* provides facts such as Stonewall was a "rebellion" (not "riots")
* being honored at Gay Pride events literally throughout the World
* creating and coordinating advertising and promotion of "Stonewall"
* delivering age-related help in many ways to our aging membership
* giving opportunities for youth to work for and learn from the SVA
* preparing, planning and executing "Stonewall 42" (2011) activities
* leads the annual New York City Gay Pride Parade with 1969 "SW-Car"

From the legendary Gay (observe the capital "Gay", not 'gay') people who originated the 'Gay Marriage' movement as of the 1969 Stonewall Rebellion when, after the first night on June 27th, many signs read: "Gay Marriage"
as well as "Gay Rights" and "Gay Power"; no alphabet GLBT soup non-sense!
The S.V.A. is not a political group (it has a far greater support) and as NYC Mayor Ed Koch has stated publicly "...and much more political clout"!

The S.V.A. organization meets the last Saturday of every month at the NYC GLBT Community Center from 4:15 p.m. until 6 p.m.  Meetings feature guest speakers.  Guests are invited to attend and participate.  For more 411:

Connected below is the direct link to the 10-minute segment of British Broadcasting Company (BBC) Worldwide Radio "Witness" Series entitled "Stonewall" with an exclusive 'Stonewall-41' interview with Williamson Henderson, founder and director of the STONEWALL Veterans Association of the 1969 Stonewall Rebellion.  BBC has confirmed that the global radio audience for this special Gay Pride presentation reached over 3 million listeners!  What was also exciting for Williamson was that they chose a Diana Ross & The Supremes Stonewall song to play in opening background!

The SVA's popular website had over 1/2 million 'verified' website visits in December of 2010!

Now that we have completed the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall Rebellion, the originators of the planned "Stonewall Monument", the SVA, are resubmitting the major plan for this monument.
Besides marching in all our Gay Pride parades, GLBT groups and public officials, et al. ought to support this worthwhile and ovedue project.
It will be discussed at the next SVA meeting! Proposed design for the Stonewall Monument can be found here.

The S.V.A. meeting is at the N.Y. GLBT Community Center at 208 West 13 Street between Seventh Av.
and Greenwich Av. in Greenwich Village, NYC, on Saturday, January 29, 2011 @ 4:15 pm until 6 pm.
Of course, there will be special guest speakers.
