James T. Sears, PhD
James T. Sears is the author or editor of twenty books, including Growing up Gay in the South, and his most recent,Edwin and John: A History of 50 Years Together Living in the American South; he is the editor of the international Journal of LGBT Youth. Jim has taught at Trinity University, Indiana University, Harvard University, Penn State University, the University of South Carolina, and lectures throughout the world. He has been a Fulbright Scholar in Southeast Asia, a Research Fellow at the University of Queensland, a Research Fellow at the University of Southern California, and a research consultant for the Brazilian government.
Along with Bob, his partner of 25 years, Jim operates a real estate consulting, property management, and research firm (http://www.searspartners.com/) with a focus on LGBT homebuyers and investors. As a licensed real estate broker and member of the National Association of Gay & Lesbian Real Estate Professionals, he serves the Charleston (SC) area and has an extensive national referral network of gay and gay-friendly Realtors. Jim also works with gay-owned and friendly LGBT real estate developments and retirement communities, specializing in the international market. 10% of his commissions tithe to local LGBT groups.
